Creating a tone of voice to attract top talent to a data sourcing platform.

The brief

Beauhurst are a data tracking company. They source data from the most innovative and exciting companies throughout the UK, helping investors know where they should be putting their money. They wanted a fresh new tone of voice to help their careers team attract the brightest minds. My bright mind was happy to help.

The process

I’ve got to be honest - I didn’t really know what a data sourcing platform was. It turned out this was perfect for the brand, as they wanted to attract people from outside the industry. Still, I needed to do some research. I spoke with all the key stakeholders in the business, from the marketing team and HR to the CEO, who dialled in from a laptop by a swimming pool. Dreamy.

These chats helped me get to know how the business worked and how people wanted it to be seen. Sure, it was a fast-paced, competitive atmosphere, but they wanted to hire talent that was creative, daring and imaginative. It soon became clear that everyone agreed the Beauhurst of old wasn’t appealing to the right people.

I then ran tone of voice sessions with all the relevant teams, helping me understand just how far they wanted to push it, and see what the future in their eyes looked like.

That gave me all the tools I needed to get cracking.

The outcome

I’m still not 100% sure what a data sourcing company is, but I do know it sounds exciting, it sounds fun, and it sounds like the kind of place people might fancy applying for a job.
